NT 4.0 log

I am a newbie. I sometimes cannot make sense from the contents of the log. Can somebody tell me how to get some resources on that.

  Try the help file from within Event Viewer for general information explaining the differences in the viewers (System, Security, Application). That is the beginning of understanding the categorization of the messages. Support.microsoft.com (Microsoft knowledgebase)is MS’s searchable database for all their products. You also might simply use the Event ID’s, entire message, or key phrase from the event message to do a search through Google.com, Teoma.com, or any good search engine. Big subject, lots to learn.
