NT 4.0 printer installation

By stergios_nik ·
Hello.

I have setup a mandatory profile on a NT 4.0 server that my client XP PCs connect and loggon.

I have difficulties setting up the printers.

I checked the "c:\document and settings\userprofile\print hood" but I can not see anything.

Could you explain how the printers are setup using mandatory profiles?

If I install a printer (networked) where that information is stored in the profile? I can not find this information. The print hood folder is empty.

The mandatory profile works but I have no printers and the user must install them manually. But, this is a problem because the printer must be installed automatically for every user that logs on and uses the mandatory profile.

Thank you in advance.

Remove all policy restrictions using policy editor. Logon as %username% of profile you want to change.(leave profile as .man) Make any changes(ie add the printer).Logoff and logon as administrator. Go to My Computer/properties. select user profiles and locate the profile of %username%. Copy it to the share where you keep the profiles on the server. Reapply the policy restrictions. Logon as %username% and the printer will be there.
