NT 4.0 Server Receives back screen

What utilities or programs are available to determine what causes a NT 40 service pack 6a server running SQL server to unexpectly stop processing or only process 1/10 of its normal work load. It must be rebooted in order to return to working conditions. How can it be determine which app is causing this problem
