Ok here goes 1000 points for the correct answer.
I am going to try and upgrade my NTSERVER’s my new configuration I want to use is:
20 gig HDD
800 mhz Intel Pentium 3 Processors
256 megs ram
Intel motherboards
Right now I am booting NT from the cd and installing. It gets all the way through the install process. (boot partition is only 4gigs) But on the first reboot (which I cannot stop) when it comes back up it runs into the blue screen of death and stops.
I have called Microsoft and even paid thier $245.00 fee to be told to upgrade to windows 2000. This is not an option. My company made a 20k investment 3 years ago in Windows NT (before I came here or else we would be *nix based) so they are unwilling to spend another 20k only 3 years later for the upgrade to Windows 2000.
Someone out there must have done this in the past and for 1000 points if they documented it (or is willing to document it) I hope they can share with some of us who need to upgrade the hardware. 🙂
BTW Microsoft told me it can be done, they have also told me they refuse to document it as they are trying to sell Windows 2000. I know it has to do with installing the service packs but I cannot even get to the point of installing the service packs before the server crashes.
