Nt 4.0 workstations won,t logon

I took over a small network with a single domain server running server 2000. The server was down so I dedicated new server. No backup for old server was available nor were any admin passwords. I have rebuilt user accounts and saved the original homefolders from old drive. MY PROBLEM is the machines running NT 4.0 won’t logon to new domain. I have tried adding computers by name to active directory. The network is visible in net neighb on these machines.
