NT Backup & email notification of succes

By Monica M ·
I am using NT Backup and I have it running automatically using the AT scheduler. I would like it to somehow generate an email message to me to let me know if it completed successfully or not. Any ideas.

Hi,

You can run "blat" from command line and send e-mails.

Blat is a free software(GNU, Linux etc - You know what I mean!)

Download this from http://gepasi.dbs.aber.ac.uk/softw/Blat.html
and install it on the machine you are running AT command.
1)Copy the file "Blat.exe"
to "\WINNT\SYSTEM32" directory, or to
any other directory in your path.
2) Run "Blat -install yourhost.site.blah
youruserid@site.blah.blah"

Log the result of your backup onto a file. You can send either the content of file or attach it to the mail.

Eg:
Add the following line to your batch file running by AT command :

blat my_logfile.log -t RajuJoseph@usa.net

Good Luck
Raju

There is no way with the AT command unless you are using a third party software like mentioned above, However there is a download on Microsofts site which is an upgrade to the AT command. The windows scheduler, it has some stupid requirements thoughfor a server, like must have IE4 or greater but it does work very nice and has a lot more functionality than the old AT and it is all GUI too. I had to get it because the AT command doesn't handle the copy command across servers using shares correctly when i called microsoft to figure out how to do it after digging for hour they told me to put the scheduler on. I can't complain about it though for once a new service from microsoft that hasn't given me a Dr Watson or error in event viewer =)
