I am in a Windows LAN/WAN environment that has a flat structure with multiple subnets and no logical divisions. The PDC shows as Domain Master Browser in WINS but I have NT workstations and WIN98 clients taking over as Master Browser continuously. If my reading is correct, one of the NT Servers should be showing as Master rather than awarding the election to a less capable NOS.
When I look at “Browser Monitor” the properties of my PDC show it being the Master Browser but WINS will show another machine as being (1bh) while the PDC shows as the Domain Master Browser. The BDC shows in WINS as being a Backup Browser.
I am understandably somewhat confused with this. Any assistance would be appreciated.
