NT DNS Migration

Does Anyone happen to know if you can migrate all DNS data from on NT 4 server to a new server with a fresh install of the DNS Services

The way I handled it was to copy the files from %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\DNS from the old server to the new server (You will need to stop the DNS service on the new server first). Run the DNS adminin tool and modify the files so you are pointing to thenew server, start the service and you should be golden (At least this is how I remember doing it about 2 years ago).

I have just done this about 8 hrs ago and all you need to do add a new server as a secondary zone let it replicate convert it to a primary then stop the replication and convert snew server to primary. Alternatively a quick and dirty method is to copy the dns folder from %systemroot%\system32\dns on the old server to the same path on the new server then restart the service. The new server should be added to DHCP scope or specified on each w\s
