NT- Installing or running from CD drive blocked

By bpt459 ·
I have a PC that will not allow me to run any programs from CD. Is there a way to override this in Windows NT? I'm not in front of it but I believe it is NT Workstation 4.0.

NT CD DRIVE BLOCKED

by jmarino In reply to NT- Installing or running ...

During start-up go into the BIOS and see if the cd-rom is installed and working correctly. Durning the boot up see if it reads the cd-rom. If not then you may have a bad cd-rom. If you conform that the cd-rom is there and working correctly I would then ask the admin if the Workstation is admin to client or admin to admin. If its admin to client the admin most lickly has turned off installation of programs from the cd-rom or from anywhere for that matter. You will have to go to the workstation and log in as the admin this way you have full rights. This should solve your problem let me know how it turns out.
