    NT logon to Novell 4.11

    Locked

    by edwin.hills ·

I would like to know if I need to add anything as far as services go on a Novell 4.11 system so I can logon with a NT workstation. I am on a token ring environment. I have all the pre-requesites loaded on the NT workstation and can ping the workstation but I can’t see the network drives and can’t logon to the Novell network to use the resources. Any help would be appreciated.

I hope the pre-requesites include the Novell Client for NT. If not, you can download it from the Novell site. Just watch which version you use (make sure it’s for NT – made that mistake once).
One other thought – make sure you’re using the 802.3 frame on your IPX protocol on the network card. Sometimes the card driver doesn’t autodetect correctly.

You need Client Services for Netware and the NWLink Protocol. This should allow you to specify which Tree in NDS you want to login to.

Go to the following link, and download the
      Novell Client 4.8 for NT/2000

      http://www.novell.com/download/index.html

Once installed, you’ll have to specify what
tree and server you will be logging into, and
that should be all you need.

Remember, you are going to need a Novell login, not just an NT login to hit the server. Once you login to novell, the client
software will allow you to syncronize your
      NT and Novell logins.
