The NT 4.0 server will not allow print jobs to go through on local ports LPT1. LPT2 will allow print jobs. After logging into the server the clients cannot print to their local LPT1 ports even with the network cable removed! This doesn?t happen with the 98 or 95 machines.
When a print job is sent it goes into the queue… disappears but no output on the printer. While the server is rebooting the print jobs that were sent earlier are sent to the printer but when the OS is fully loaded no more print jobs can be sent.
The printer cables and the printer has been checked and ruled out and seeming the problem happens with other NT workstations the LTP 1 port on the sever has been ruled out as well.
I think it might be a permissions problem but I have no idea of which one. Two days prior some user accounts were deleted from the server but no admin accounts were touched.
