I have an NT 4.0 server, SP6A. Every night within an hour after beginning the backup, and sometimes during the day, the server becomes unresponsive. Can’t see in browse list or ping it. Get “event id 8021” in system log, “browser unable to retrieve list of servers from master”. Then get “event id 8003”, “master browser received server announcement from computer XXX that believes it is the master browser”. Computer XXX is my PDC. Server is not multihomed and is on same subnet as other servers. Please help! I’m out of ideas, and so apparently is Microsoft.
