NT Server, XP client

By nn128 ·
I need functions not supported by NT (USB support in particular), and I would like to upgrade to software that does not work on NT. I work through an NT server using NT workstation. My question: is it possible to use an XP client with an NT server. There's not much likelihood the server will be upgraded.

I have several XP boxes connected to an NT4 domain. You need to have the NT server patched to a certain level (I think it was SP4) and getting them to join the domain is a little tricky but it can be done.
Here is the link to allow the domain to be joined: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318266&Product=winxp

I also still run a NT4 domain, with NT4 PDC and several NT4 BDCs in different locations.
The remainder of my servers (50+) are all Win2K and a few Win2K3.
I have a few NT4 workstations left (maybe 3 left), and the majority remaining are Win2KPro.
I also have about 5 XP Pro machines (including my laptop, that I am writing this on).
I have not had any problem getting XP Pro machines to join my NT4 domain. Also, the XP boxes are just fine with NT4 domain users logging on, accessing shared drives and shared printers.
XP is backwards compatible with the NT4 domain strucuture and communications.
