    NT Service pack 6.0 on Compaq Desktop

    Hi, I’ve a stupid question, I’m installing NT-Server on a Compaq desktop Pc, after installing the service pack 6.0 doesn’t the computer start NT anymore. What can I do to recover my NT?

      1. Re-install NT and do an upgrade
      2. Use the recovery disk to recover the NT registry
      3. If you chose backup previous NT before upgrading to SP6 can use recover from that
      4. Try using the last logon option by pressing space bar when NT is just booting

      You didn’t say where the NT stops, is there error message etc. So there are many answers to your problem depending on what file etc has failed.

      If you don’t have information that you need to save from that system the process is fairly simply. Just reformat and reload. If you cannot do that there are a few other options.
      1 ) If on boot you are given the option to boot in VGA mode try that. If that lets you in reload your service pack.
      If you cannot get that far.
      2 ) And you have a up-to-date emergencey repair disk use it. Sometimes you can get lucky. You may need to use ( or make ) The 3 NT boot disks and then try a re-pair that way.
      A good utility that I have found for problems like this is NTFSDOS from Winternals. http://www.winternals.com – good luck
