NT Services

By m.graft ·
I have an application running on a W2K Advanced Server. There are 29 NT services running under an Admin account I created (so they are not running under the Local System account). I have noticed that the services fails to run properly and also after restarting the server the services will not run until I have typed the password again (I only need to do that on one of the services and somehow the rest will recognize it) the specific account is also modified to run as a batch job in the local policy. My question is, are there limits to running services using a different account other then the Local System account?

As far as I know, there is no limitations. When using another account than the Local System account you have to define the permissions for the account, however if that account is member of administrators group, there should not be a problem.

Make sure that for each service, the password and account name is valid etc etc.

Startup type : automatic, set the failure action to restart service.

See if any of this helps...

I was able to discover that this error appears when doing the following:
1. Started the Local Security Policy
2. Under Local Policy clicked on User Rights Assignment
3. Opened the policy Log on as a service
4. Try to start the service again
5. I get the "Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure".
Somehow, when opening either the log on as a service or as a batch job will cause the service entity to fail. Any idea why and how it should be solved?
