NT Training

By smerd ·
I am an IT Technician at a High School in Liverpool UK. I have a good
knowledge of OSs DoS Win3 Win9x. However we have now installed a network
running under Win NT ver 4.0. I have been unable to find any course/book
that will take you from first principles to Administrator skills. What I
think I need is 'a how to book' eg how do I map path drives, in plain English.
TIA
Mal

Mastering Windows NT Server 4
Mark Minasi

This book includes the "basics" and the hard core techie and admin subjects. I recommend this book because it has some "real world" information and advice often missing in computer books. This book is usually discounted.

I would be careful with MCSE books. Some have been thrown together to ride the MCSE wave. Some of these are not complete and/or inaccurate.

If you can afford to, set up a small experimental LAN at home. If not, you might want to try job shadowing at a local NT shop.

I definatley have to Agree on the MCSE Core +2 book. I have it and it is a great resource for Nt Networks. It also has the book in PDF which means you can lug around a CD instead of the big book to work...
