One of my laptops (NT4.0 w/SP6a) was working fine on the network until the person broke the dongle on the pcmcia card that connected it to our net. So I bought a new one, removed the old one from the adpaters under network properties. Rebooted. Installed the new card with its drivers and told it to use dhcp to get its address. NO Luck. Comes back and says that the domain controller is not available. I have used ipconfig /renew from the dos prompt and get the Message Error: No adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP. I have tried removing and reinstalling the driver. If i assign the laptop an address i can ping its address and the loopback but nothing else on the net. I have link lights and act on the new card.
Heres thePisser. Even though the dongle on the old card is broke it still works if you just lay it there and the cables dont pull on it. So I unistalled the new one and tried the old one and get the same errors.
Any Ideas: I am missing something but not sure what. Since I am the entire IT department I dont have anyone to bounce ideas off of.
