Are you dual booting ( 2 op systems)?
Have you tried Recovery Console? the ‘C’ option?

Might try having a look at boot.ini especially if you are dual booting and your other op system was re-installed!

I know not much help because I haven’t found how to make a repair disk yet on a broken system. I did however get my system back up with the ‘c’ option and the help tools then edited the boot.ini

      regards

If you have NO current Emerg. Repair disk for that system, the only thing that will help will be an Emergency Repair Disk of an identical system (hardware) with the same programs installed.

If you do not have that, slave the drive off, copy the important data / working files to another pc, then wipe that old drive out and start anew.

      Good luck

BOOT.INI Required for Repair Process w/o Emergency Repair Disk
      This article applies to?
This article was previously published under Q139894

If you do not have an emergency repair disk (ERD) available, you can still repair a Windows NT installation by using the 3 setup disks to boot the system with disk 1. You can often boot the system if your CDRom drive supports bootable CD’s (the El Torito CDRom specification). Once setup has begun, select the R option to repair the NT installation. When setup asks if you have a ERD disk, select no and setup will look at the boot.ini file for an installation path. Setup will try to find the repair directory from that path (%SystemRoot%\Repair) and use the registry files in that directory for repairs.

You can run setup again and install the OS on top of itself. This should fix your problem, but you will need to reload service packs and patches.

You should try and let NT find the repair info on the HDD if it fails, I suggest you look for a PC that has same configuartion as yours and create one using RDISK.exe

Alternatively, you can create an ERD from any NT PC and edit the parameters under [PATH] section of SETUP.TXT on the floopy ERD to point to your corrupt NT partition and only repair System Boot files when prompted.

Lastly, you can slave the HDD with anothe NT computer & copy out any important files then re-install NT & your applications.

      GoodLuck.
