NT Workstation Will Not Recognize Memory

By richard ·
We added SIMM memory to Win NT Workstation. When we exceeded 64MB NT would not recognize it. The BIOS sees all the memory, but not NT WS. Any ideas as to cause and what we need to do to get it to 128MB. Thank you.

NT Workstation Will Not Recognize Memory

R U using the same kind of memory? In some cases NT does not recognizes the memory if they come from different manufacturer or if they have different chipset. I had cases that NT sent me a blue screen because the memory is not from the same company.

Go to your C drive and edit your BOOT.INI file. You will have to change the attributes from READ ONLY and make sure to change them back when done.

Look for a /MAXMEM switch in there and remove it. NT will then see all available memory.
