NT Workstation

By javaid7 ·
My Windowt NT workstation was working fine, I uninstalled a software and rebooted the computer. Now it shows me the login screen (ALT+CTRL+DEL) but when I enter the user name and password it keeps prompting for (press ALT+CTRL+DEL to logon). I have used my domain admin account, new user account and local workstation admin account but system does not allow me to login. I would apprecite any support ASAP.
Thank you,

I don't use it but you can try this tip:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
Also maybe you can use VGA mode.

Hi,

It looks like you may have inadvetantly deleted a vital system file or driver when you uninstalled that program.

I think I'd start by either doing a repair if you have a recovery floppy (ERD) or booting with the NT CD and doing a repair from that.

Cheers,
Tim.

I just used the uninstall option within the application. I believe it has done something differently. I have not deleted any thing manually. Repair option did not work.

I have upgraded the OS and reinstalled all the service packs and now the system works properly. Thank you for your help.

Since you have not logged on sucsesfully you should be able to use the last know good configuration. when booting right after it goes through the selection screen for windows nt it will prompt you to hit the space bar to invoke the last known good configuration. You then will be shown a screen where it tells you to hit the L key to do last known good. then hit enter. It this does not work then try all other ideas. This is the least intrusive process.

good luck

Chris

I think something went wrong during uninstall.

One thing to try is to repair your Windows NT Workstation.

Do a usual fresh install, but at some point NT Setup would ask whether to do a fresh install, repairing a damage Windows NT or other things. Choose repair.

If you use your ERD disk, then you need to remember the username + password combination at the time the ERD disk was created.
