NT4 Exch 5.5 - how to recall sent mail ?

By Bhrdwh ·
We have NT 4.0 Domain running Exchange 5.5 server, users have Office 2000 & few XP (Outlook 2000/XP) -
1. How do I recall a sent email using Exchange Server 5.5 & Outlook 2000 Client ?
2. Can I have "highlighter" option when writing emails in Outlook 2000 Client... like we have in Word 2000 to highlight (color texts) in yellow.

Is this both possible only in Outlook XP - if yes, how ?

1. Open the mail you want to recall. Then click on Action, Recall this message.

2. Right-click a blank space on the toolbar, then click to enable the Formatting toolbar (if it's not already enabled). Start a new message. When in teh body of the message, you'll see the highlight button (A big letter A underlined in red).

NT4 Exch 5.5 - how to recall sent mail ?

Answer to your first question:
First of all, any mail that is send out does not have any guarantee to recall it back. It is highly depending on the way the server is set up on the receiving end. If you are sending to an internal users, it has a higher possibility to recall it as long as the recipient has not open the mail. To recall the mail, it can only be done through the e-mail client such as the Outlook 2000. Open up the mail in the Sent Items folder and select the "Actions" drop-down menu and select "Recall This Message". There is a few options that you can select.

Answer to your second question:
You can highlight the text in outlook 2000 only if you are using MS Word as your e-mail editor. This can be done by going to "Tools" and select "Options". A window will pop-up with lots of options to customize your Outlook. Now, select the "Mail Format" tab, and check the "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages". Next, click "OK" and you're done. The next time you compose a new mail, you will see the familiar MS Word interface. Frankly, i myself find the MS Word editor to be useful, with a lot more funtions.

i hope this will answer both your questions.

Regards
