Under NT's "Services" in Control Panel.

You need to correct the problem first. What have you done to try to fix it? You can shut down the services. But that does not solve the problem.

Using the Services control panel, stop the System Attendant services which will also stop all other Exchange services. Start the System Attendant service to start up Exchange 5.5 again. However, you will manually need to start some of the Exchangeservices.

Also, what leads you to believe that Exchange 5.5 is causing your VM problems. Have you reviewed the process/memory usage using the Task Manager to identify processes that might be "leaking" memory?

You could try increasing virtual memory in system properties to see if this helps with problems. As far as shutting down exchange server, I dont see what you want to do - actually shut down machine or shutdown /startup services. To restart services in control panel, use following order once they have been stopped.

- System Attendant
- Directory Service
- Information Store
- Message Transfer Agent
- Internet Mail Service
