NT4 PDC Rebuild

I’m rebuilding my NT4 PDC. I want to make sure that users are able to access there files on the same share point with the same permissions they had prior to the rebuild. What steps, other then backing up there data, should be taken? I do have two BDC’s, one of which I will promote a few days prior to the rebuild date. Any input is appreciated.
