NTBACKUP batch file and Exchange Server

By tommyd ·
What is the syntax for a batch file to backup both the server root directory and drives as well as Microsoft Exchange Server? I have something to the effect of:

NTBACKUP backup c d e /v .....etc.

It works great, but I do not see where it is backing up my e-mail messages, and addresses. Can you help me?

Exchange backup

Here is a sample batch file I have written:
Note the wrapping sucks so you will likely need to fix it up. The Server being backed up is called NEWCOMB. The NT_NT_blabla is the standard backup naming convention used. We eject the tape at the end of the backup so that we won't overwrite the tape if it isn't changed. We have a file like this for every day that we backup the server and schedule them using at. This is an online exchange backup. To do an offline, just use net stop to stop all exchange services and then do a full system backup. Hope this works for you. I'll post it in another message, as this one was too long. D'oh!

Oh ya

This works under NT4.0 SP6a and Exchange 5.5 SP3 with some hotfixes. This has not been tested with 2000.

REM Now we need to backup the IS and DS

ntbackup backup DS \\NEWCOMB IS \\NEWCOMB /d "NT_NT_W_M_EX" /hc:on /l "C:\logs\NT_NT_W_M.log" /v /a
