ntbackup restore

using a known good backup tape created with NT 4.0 ntbackup. Can I restore some files from this tape using Windows 2000 backup? If so, how is W2k backup configured to make this possible.

Firstly. Do NOT restore an NTFS backup to a FAT volume! As if anyone uses FAT with Win2k anyway! A few more things you should know about Win2k backups.
1. If you always perform a Normal backup then you only need the last backup.
2. If you perform Differential backups you need the last Normal backup and the last Differential backup.
3. If you perform Incremental backups, you need the last Norm backup and every Inc backup since the last Norm backup and the Incremental backups MUST be restored in the same order in which they were created.

To restore files nd folders open backup and chose the restore tab or you can use the wizard. The left hand pane shows the tree of your backup sets and you can expand a set to select individual folders and files or select to restore the entire contents.

Hope this has helped you.
