    NTDETECT failed

    Locked

    by thanaka2u ·

I did a clean disk session, turned off my laptop. The next day went to turn it on. The COMPAQ logo come on, with the options to start up in different ways(f2,f12,etc). The logo disappears, black screen, then NTDETECT failed, then it loops over and over again
When I press f8 at startup, it gives the safe mode options, I click on one of those, then it goes to the next screen, with the system highlighted I click ENTER,then next to the highlighted system, NTDETECT failed shows up again, and reboots over and over. Since my windows XP CD got broken therefore its been out of sight for so long, I forgot where it is, and there is no floppy disk drive on my laptop. Is there anyway I can fix my laptop with a eMachine desktop running windows XP? Thank you any and all for your time in answering this question.

You will need a copy of windows xp then you will need to go into repair mode in the xp disk and install ” NTDETECT ” From there (cross fingers) it should work. I have done this but first get the instructions from the internet then print it off, it will give you a step by step guide if followed correctly you will have your laptop back and ready, but ” PLEASE DO A BACKUP OF YOUR LAPTOP ” on to an external harddrive.
