I have an XP system that is in a network that consists of manily 2k systems. This system will not boot and brings up the error NTLDR missing. I know that is a file needed to get XP to run. I am pretty sure that the recovery console (chkdsk /r) will bring it back but don’t have an XP pro CD to use. System came with its own custom factory restore disk, which as far as i know doesn’t have the recovery console I have had this issue on another system before. Is the recovery console in XP home the same as XP pro? Would it bring it back? I have also heard that putting that drive in another XP system, will cause XP to fix its own errors on the other drive. Is that true?
Thanks
