I have some departmental folders set up and in order to provide appropriate groups modify capabilities on sub-folders and files within the folder – while denying those groups the ability to delete the folder itself – I have assigned the appropriate groups “Modify” access to “This folder, subfolders and files” and I have customized the default “Modify” access by removing “Delete” permissions and adding “Delete Subfolders and Files”.

This gives me the setup I want except for the fact that a member of the group granted access can attempt to delete the parent folder and if they answer yes to the question about “Do you want to delete FolderX and all its contents…” – even though they will be denied the deletion of the folder, they will delete all the contents of the folder.

I realize that by granting modify access to the group I am allowing the ability to delete the contents; what I am seeking is to eliminate the ability to perform the deletion from the level of the parent folder. I want to eliminate the scenario of a user being informed that they will be unable to delete the folder itself, trying to delete the folder and being denied, but in the process deleting all the contents of the folder.

Is there any way to setup thefolders in the way I described?

Thanks in advance
