ntldr error

while starting laptop compaq of win xp os gives error as ntldr missing
can some one help

Hi

Commonest cause of this is a disk in the floppy drive. Remove the disk, then reboot

Try this Technet article on making a bootable floppy (that involves copying NTLDR and a couple other files) to boot your existing XP install

I have found NTFS compressed boot files can cause boot failure or if they are missing.

Since it's a notebook, assume there is no floppy drive.
