    NTLDR is Missing

    Locked

    by bob ·

During a Win XP Pro setup, the message “NTLDR is Missing” appears when it should state “Press any Key to boot from CDRom.
The setup disk is in the CD.
There is no OS on this machine. Attempting to load XP Pro OEM to a newly built PC.

Make sure that the boot to cd option is enabled in the Bios, and that it will look at the cd before the hard drive

maybe you can fdisk the hard disk first, or try another setup cd.

      Thanks to all.
It seems as if the old adage, again, is true.
It turned out to be something simple where I was looking for a more complex answer.
The Windows XP setup CD is corrupt.
The PC could read no boot info from it.
I changed to a different setup CD and it went to “Press any key to boot from CD.”
