NTLDR Missing

Recently we had a Windows 2000 Server system return at boot the error that NTLDR is missing. By booting off of a floppy containing NTLDR, NTDETECT, & Boot.Ini, we could see that not only was NTLDR missing, but Ntdetect and Boot.Ini as well. Gone. Initially this was only on one system; now today another system on another subnet had the same thing happen, and this system is W2K Professional w/SP2. I have scoured the Web looking for any information pertaining to this, but to no avail. (Of those results returned, many articles referenced this problem when upgrading from Win-98 to 2000 Professional or in dual boot situations). I could not find any information regarding any virus-like behavior. Has anyone else expereinced this issue? O/S is as mentioned W2K Server and W2K Pro, both with SP-2. (SP-2 has been in place on these systems for many many months now). Volumes are NTFS Basic.
