NTP on PIX Firewall

By 1networker ·
I have a Cisco PIX Firewall and was wondering if I could use Network Time Protocol (NTP) to correct it's time. I haven't seen anything in the firewall's IOS about NTP and I was wondering if it could be implemented.

Thanks

The last release of PIX that I looked at: No. Shame too.

As of PIX v6.0, the only time management facility it provides is an ability to syncronize the time between two PIX units configured for failover. And even that depends on the CMOS time being correct on the first one.

One might think that with IPSec, there would be some movement towards supporting NTP on the PIX. But if there is, I haven't seen it yet.

To let you guys know, I talked to Cisco about the problem, and they informed me that as you already know, this cannot be done with the current PIX IOS. However, in the latest version coming out (6.2) it should be implemented. This new version is likely to come out in Nov/Dec. Thanks for all your comments.
