NTVDM Error

By light98 ·
I recently came across a challanging problem attempting to install software on an NT 4.O client. When I went to start a setup program as soon as it executed I received a WOW NTVDM error which locked up the computer. I applied Microsofts fix which said to replace the command.com file with a working machines, which I did. This seemed to work at first by allowing me to install two applications. Then when install Iomega Zip drive software it came up again. Can anyone help solve this? The machine is running SP 6a.

The other programs you installed were proabably 32 bit programs, that's why you didn't experience the problem.
The server is having problems running 16 bit apps. The reinstalling the sp6a and the srp. Also look at the following link.

Which will be a lenght process.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. Reinstalling the SP didn't help. It appears the problem was caused by the motherboard drivers as I blew away the box and installed with Mircosoft's drivers and the problem went away.
