    Number 3 doesn’t work.

I can’t type out the number ‘3’ on my keyboard using the top row of keys, only the numpad, so I bought a new keyboard.

The thing is, it didn’t solve the problem. New keyboard ‘3’ doesn’t work either, but numpad does. Any ideas what I could do to troubleshoot this?

    I’m using Windows 10.

EDIT: It works if I start in safe mode.

      Have you checked ?

If any other keys on the keyboard are also affected ? How does the keyboard connect to the computer, PS/1 interface, wireless, USB ? I wonder if the interface input on the computer might be the issue since you tried a different keyboard and had the same issue.

The other keys all work fine.
        Both keyboards are USB.
I tried a different USB port but that didn’t change things.

Not sure if my replies are showing, this is the second time I have tried.

        All the other keys work.
        Both keyboards connect via USB.
I tried changing the USB port they plug into and that didn’t change things.

Something I try when that happens.

      1. I boot another OS from USB and test. There are so many Live OSes and web pages about this test.
      2. I go get SHARPKEYS (which is on the web as to where and how to use) to remove any key maps.

I installed SHARPKEYS and it can’t find any key maps.
I’m unsure about the booting another OS from USB and testing idea. I will do some googling and look into it.

I don’t know anything about booting from another OS from USB but will google and see what I can find.

I did however just try restarting in safe mode and the 3 key works then.

I installed SHARPKEYS and it couldn’t find any key maps. (There shouldn’t be any).

      Open device manager.

      Open the keyboard entry/driver.

      Uninstall the device…….reboot.

If no help and it works in safe mode what’s in your startup group?
