number of fonts in windows '98

By fredrik ·
Is there any way the maximum allowed number of fonts installed in windows can be altered?
I have a few more fonts I would like to install, but I'm not allowed to by the computer.

I rally don't know if there is a certain max no. of fonts allowed, BUT I saw PCs with Win98 having about 850 font installed, do u need more than that, well try reinstalling all the font u have plus the few more ones, u can do this by coping the folder fonts under the windows folder to any other folder ( say c:\fnt) and uninstall all the fonts from the control panel, restart the system and reinstal all the fonts from c:\fnt
Good luck

Hello,

I have experienced this kind of dilemma before. I found out that windows 98SE can not have fonts more than 999. If you try to install more than 999, the system will tell you to delete some fonts, or the font file you're trying to install is corrupt.

So what I did was to downgrade to the first edition of 98 which currently, I have 1,756 fonts installed. Aside from the ttf font files, I also have Adobe Type Manager which uses PS type fonts (not certain what it's called).

What version of win98 do you have?
