Out of curiosity, what would be a “good” number of servers or a maximum number of servers to have on a LAN. For example, if I am running a number of Novell servers (10 or more), WINS servers (2 or more), DNS servers (2 or more), Exchange servers (2or more) and various application servers (too many to count)…
I would tend to believe that these servers should be broken up by services into separate LAN’s. I would think that by doing so, broadcast traffic and multicast traffic would be reduced, easing network traffic. Also, troubleshooting separate LAN’s would be easier, right?
