Numbered List Button Using Heading Styles (Word 2007)?

By ArrueiraVermelha ·
I have no idea how I achieved this absurdity but maybe someone can help me...
- a custom list style is created and each level linked to a given heading style
- the headings work like a dream, sequential numbering and all
- when I try to use the numbered list button in the ribbon the selected text is formatted as a headings! When I look at the styles, the selected text shows as using a heading style --???

It's Word 2007. I looked at all the list styles in that document via 'manage styles' and could not find any links between heading styles and list styles, besides the one I created myself and that was name completely different from all the other styles.

Any ideas how I can get that darned Numbered List button to stop assigning heading styles to my numbered lists?

Thanks anyway.
