nVidia 6600 & nVidia NVTV Dual TV Tuner

By Casemaker ·
Hi,
I recently attended Intel TST and brought home a new ePC. It has a passive
XFX video card and a nVidia NVTV Dual Tuner Card. I attached a monitor to
the AVG to set up. I have tried different ways to connect the cable. I split
it coming into the house, go to the set top box and the cable in on the card
and the S Video out to the tv. I tried cable directly to the cable in on the
tuner card. I get the signal and it comes up on the monitor but not on the tv.
My components TV with S Video, Cable set top box with S Video port on it.
The ePC with Dual Tuner Card, card has FM,Cable, video1 and video2 port and
sound ports. The video card has 2 DVI and 1 AVG port.
Can you suggest the best way to connect ?

Generally speaking the Passive Cards require the Video Out and Sound out to be feed in through the inputs of the computer so Audio out should go to Line in on the Sound Card and so on. To feed a TV you need a DVI to Scart adapter if your TV has a SCART plug or a simple RCA plug into the Video Card to either the TV or VCR for Video feed. You can also run sound out this way as well but if you have one of the better sound cards you'll get a better result using the computers speakers for a full experience Surround Sound. With those Cards you should be able to do away with the Set Top Digital Box. As you have 2 Tuner Cards it would be better to run the Video out from the Video Card and enable the second Display and maintain the computer as the sound system. So you will need a DVI to S Video adapter to achieve this.

I take it that you are using MS Media Center right?

Just an additional thought if that set top box is for Cable you'll need to run the signal to it then to the tuner cards in the PC so you'll have to split the cable at the back of the PC to feed both Tuner cards and then feed the video back to the TV from there.
