Nvidia GForce II MX 64 Problem w/drivers

By john_kleist ·
I am having problems with my NVidia GForce II MX drivers. I am running Windows 2000 Professional and a file called rscmpt.exe loads automatically and eats up my entire CPU continuously. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the NVidia Web Sitebut can not figure out what is causing this problem or how to fix it. Please HELP!!!!

Are your drivers win2k compliant? if not get the specificaly win2k drivers and or updates. I had this problem with a tnt 2 agp card and i had to install it and uninstall and install the drivers that came with it the card and then go to the manufactures web site and update the drivers to be win2k compliant.

I have seen this issue, if you try to remove the rscmpt.exe from memory by "End Tasking" it your PC should perform a lot better, but then you'll notice windows will only see your card as a 32 mb card as opposed to 64. I would completely uninstall any current drivers, remove the rscmpt.exe file from the "Run" section in the registry, and then find the latest and greatest drivers from the manufacturer web site. If you need help with the the registry editing let me know.
