ODBC Problem

by Raffi_ In reply to ODBC Problem

Hello:

Sounds like you have some incompatible .DLL's or something screwed up your ODBC registry settings. I would suggest first re-installing the MDAC which is available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm
Get the file called MDAC 2.6 RTM. This will install/update your MDAC components (MicrosoftDataAccessComponents). If that does not fix it (and it should) then try this KnowledgeBase article:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q260/5/58.ASP

Regards

ODBC Problem

Sorry that the MDAC did not work out and ere is the relevant part of the KB Article:

Resolution for incorrect registry settings problem:

Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

Locate the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI
Installation information for ODBC drivers is stored in this key. Make sure that all the required ODBC driver files are in the correct folder as described by the registry keys. For example, assume that you have the following information in your registry for the Microsoft Access ODBC driver:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)

Driver = C:\WINNT\System\Odbcjt32.dll
Setup = C:\WINNT\System\Odbcjt32.dll

This will cause anerror if the Odbcjt32.dll file is in the C:\WINNT\System32 folder. You can modify the registry key values to C:\WINNT\System32\odbcjt32.dll to solve this problem. Also verify that the Odbcinst.ini file has the correct entries in the same way.

Anywrong value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI under the Setup key will cause this error.

Hope this helps.

I've tried copying in older DLL's that i know work i don't receive these messages but i am unable to save the new entry.
