Odd inserts in Word 97

By TechieChick ·
I have an end user that has created standard word documents in word 97. She has not used any auto inserts etc. The documents opened, displayed and printed without errors for some time and then suddenly are displaying random errors that appear when printed as follows:

client name(edited for her privacy)
Normal(Actual word insert that she didn't type)
Client name
Microsoft word 8.0
Name of document
_Pid_Guid
{9B967GS2-1B67-11D4-8128-9002AFF7B43C}
{9B967GS2-1B67-11D4-8128-9002AFF7B43C}

These lines are randomly displayed throughout various documents. This was my first visit to this client, her NAV's are up to date and scans are run weekly. The os is win95.
Any thoughts, random or otherwise? I've found nothing related inMicrosofts site (yet).
Thanks!

Hi - Something like this happened to me. It turned out that the document type was 'recovered document', not Word document. When they open the doc, check the document type list box. If they open using a shortcut, do a save as to see what type of document it thinks it is. Hope this helps.

Make sure that the user does not have the Open Files of Type: setting on "Recover text from any file". This could be from opening an Autorecover document.
Also for good measure make sure that Allow Fast saves is disabled. Fast save can reveal deleted material when a Doc is viewed in a text editor.

I gave that answer previously. Here is ledel's reply:

Thanks for the reply, but it didn't work. We already had settings to all files. This is randomly showing up in only a few documents, not all of them.

So now I will say AT ONE TIME she opened a doc using "Recover text from any file". Then she saved it as a doc. That will embed the inserted text, so next time it's opened as a Word doc, it's still there.

Thanks, I'm going to go with this answer since technically you did say it first. After further discussions with the client she is transferring documents in from Works and I think that is our culprit. Thanks everyone!
