    OE removed access…

    by cruffin ·

For a file attachment in Outlook Express, recipient is unable to open or detach, with the message “OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your email: xxx.cip (Andersen Windows iQ program). File extension IS associated with the program. Thoughts?

The Security is set to prevent the option of opening Attached Files to incoming E-Mails.

I don’t use OE that much but from memory once you open it it’s Tools/Options and then Security and then disable the prevent attached items being opened which if I remember correctly is a tick in a box. Apply the changes and close the setting box down. You may need to restart the program to get access to the Attached file but it will be there and readable.

The security rule prevent to execute attachments like *.exe, *.com, *.pif and other extension that can be executable files. Your computer is unsafe if you uncheck the box. Another way is to archive or change the extension.
