Office 2000

By prcwebland ·
I recently received a number of unrequested files with the .eml suffix after this I deleted all the files and uninstalled Outlook express. Since then I have had trouble with memory problems in Word and Excel. I have uninstalled these programs and reinstalled them. I can not access these programs. They start to appear but then disappear quickly. What can I do

Where did these eml files appear? Have you done a virus scan? If not, a virus scan should be your first step. Next uninstall all MS Office programs....restart your computer.....run a registry fixer like Norton System Works....restart your computer.
Reinstall Office.

This is a symptom of the NIMDA virus, *.eml

Run anti-virus to eradicate, anything it can not fix delete and reload.

If you find a virus and get it cleaned out, let the people you received them from what virus you found and they possibly have.

Same thing happened to a customer of mine. Had to down load the nimda repair tool from Norton. It was able to isolate all of the nimda files and delete. I beleive the version of this tool is 2.05. Make sure you have updated your virus scan before you run the tool so you can run a full scan afterwards.
