This is kind of a strange situation. I had previously installed Office 2000 on a drive originally lettered as J:. Since then I have removed a failed drive, which caused all my drive letters to be re-arranged. As a result, the J: drive is now the first CD in my multi-disc changer. When I try to repair or re-install or un-install Office 2000, I always get an error message that there is not enough space on the J: drive (why it would require space to Un-install something is beyond me.) The message only allows you to re-try or abort, nothing else. I’ve gone through the registry NUMEROUS times changing any references to J: to D: where the installation now resides. No luck. I still get messages that certain files on the J: drive are missing (sbcmsynch.dll comes to mind.) When I search for files containing “j:\program files” it points to a couple unrelated files, and to the USER.DAT file, even though the same text does not occur in the registry when using regedit. How can I fix the installation without reformatting everything??
