This Affects Word 2k, Excel 2k and Wordpad
I have Windows 2000 Pro SP2 installed on a Compaq Armada 1750. There is also Office 2000 Standard and a Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56.
Word 2000, Excel 2000 and Wordpad consistently generate the following error if there is no signal into the NIC and I log into the Local NT4 Domain.
The message is “Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being generated.”
The event Application log has a DrWatson error Event ID: 4097 with the following text;
“The application, , generated an application error The error occurred on 06/16/2001 @ 14:36:48.905 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 10012893 (DrvDeviceCapabilities)”
If ther is a network connection or if I log on locally on the Win 2k machine I do not get this error
