We have just completed a rollout of win98se and office 2000SR1a to approx 3000 users.
We are recieving an increasing number of calls regarding “Office applications will not open”
These calls are easily resolved but we would like to prevent them if possible.
Problem: user double clicks icon, recives hourglass, cursor reverts to standard pointer and nothing appears of the app.
Resolution: In task manager an entry appears for the apps associated executable (winword, excel, pwrpoint, msaccess) for every time they attempt to open the app. End tasking these then logging off then back on resolves the problem but as our users are spread right through our Authority we would appreciate any prevention measures available.
Hardware: Ram between 32Mb and 128Mb, Processors from P133’s up to P3 800’s, and Ibm or Compaq machines. I can see no common link in hardware or Spec.
