Office 97

By rbcomputer ·
I'm getting a "not enough memory or disk space" error when using paste special>picture>float over text, in word 97 when I' am trying to paste in cells from an excel spreadsheet. The pc is a PIII 700, 10Gb, 128RAM running win98SE. Ofice 97 is installed with both service packs. I have replaced the ram and the Hd has over 8gb free. If I simply paste the cells in, it works or if I paste special with the bitmap option instead of picture it also works. Any ideas on what I could be overlooking.

The "Memory" referred to is System Resources. It's not directly related to RAM or HD space. It's a small amount of memory (about 128 k, I think) that is used for operations. An application is supposed to use this memory and then return it when it's unneeded. Many apps, however, are bad citizens and hoard memory.
I would suggest that you perform this operation after you have made sure that other programs are closed. You may also have to reboot the machine to recover memory.
You can check this under Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information, or by running "msinfo32.exe" on the Start>Run line.

Hello,

A possible solution in to check your 'Virtual Memory' settings. This is done by:
Right Click My Computer | Select Properties | Performance Tab | Virtual Memoray Button.

Select "Let me specify my own ..."

Accept the "No Maximum"

"Ok" your way back out, etc.

Try your procedures.

Hope it helps.
