Office 97 Templates

By goatie ·
In our firm, we have a large number of word templates to which everyone has access to. Due to the large number, templates are saved unde relavent folders ie "BKR" & "Audit". We haev also set up the default template with an icon that opens up the templates rather than clicking "File, New". When we open up the templates through the icon it opens at "General" where we would like it to open at "BKR" even though there is no folder for "General". It would save us time if this could be done!

Hello clayton.flood,

Where are these directories (BKR & AUDIT) located?

Place them along with the other subdirectories containing template.

for example:

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.

They are already in a default folder called templates. We want the BKR as the first tab for templates, not general.

To clarify the question a little more, we have a directory on our server called "Templates". Under this directory are our "General", "BKR" & "Audit" template directories. It is the "BKR" & not "General" that we want it to default to.

It may not be a 'cure', but it might be a work-around. Couldn't you swap file contents? Put the BKR templates in the General folder and move the existing General templates to some other location?

This suggestion has bee put forward and I have now been told that due to the introduction of an intranet, they are looking at a different way of storing hte templates. Had this not gone ahead, this suggestion would have been accepted.
