I’m trying to use MS Office Accounting Pro 2007 in an Server 2003 AD environment with multi-user access by 2 users
(XP Pro). I want to use SQL 2005 which I already have installed on my file server/DC. I have successfully installed
Accounting 2007 on the server and moved my data file to the server’s D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1
\MSSQL\Data” folder. I have successfully named the SQL instance (MSSQLServer) and attached the data file in the
software’s Data Tools utility, run the program, and created a multi-user comapany file. I made the Company File
(.sbc) available on the network, in accordance with the online help.
I can’t do any of the above (except naming the SQL instance, which the tool doesn’t verify) from any workstation.
What am I missing?
I know that SQL requires permissions for remote connections, certain folders need appropriate Share and NTFS
permissions, which I probably don’t have right.
When I try to attach the data file from a workstation I get “The selected file is being used by another
application. Close all other applications that might be using the file and try again.” And if I try to just open
the file (the Company File set up on the server for multi- user) from the program I get “The company could not be opened. Please ensure the SQL server exists, the service is running, and that access has been granted.”
The Accounting 2007 install has 3 choices for it’s SQL service: MSSMLBIZ (Recommended), an existing instance (local), and None (client only). I’ve tried them all. I don’t know what more to do.
