Office Install

By JParade ·
I have MS Office 2000 Pro. Has worked great for last 13-14 months. Recently, when opening ANY program from office, I get an error saying, "This application must be installed to run. Please run setup from where you originally installed the application."
Why would this happen? I haven't done any new program installs, deleted any files, or uninstalled any programs. I would like to fix this problem without re-installing Office. Thank you.

Hi,

See you were caught by the same bug ! Yes using the option reinstalling office from the CD is enogh. And in some minutes it will continue working as a fresh installed one. It happened to me when I created a new profile at my workstation.

Good luck !

Hi,

Maybe Bill gates can tell you why this happens.

The good news is that you do not have to uninstall office and reinstall it. First Office 2000 has reverted back to its install on demand settings.

If you put your Office 2000 CD into yourCD drive and click yes to the install message, Office will repair it's self without haveing to do a full re install. This usually only takes a few minutes.

Hope this helps

Regards
Mike Dale

If, and only if, you have both installed and uninstalled win2k the it's just possible that you have run into a 'feature'. Should this be the case, then the maintenance option on setup will be unavailable. To fix it you will need to run
setup /fv data1.msi

Good Luck
